As a new full-service restaurant, what are the options for offering a unique coffee experience to diners?

What are my options in coffee service for my restaurant? I will be serving breakfast, and brunch on the weekends, but I also want to have something that people will stick around to order after dinner.

Coffee is usually the first and last food item that a customer will enjoy at a restaurant, and it’s important the customer leaves with a good taste on their palate. Although high-end coffee isn’t the right fit for every type of restaurant, we are seeing more restaurateurs moving in that direction.

Restaurateurs are more aware of the importance of the coffee experience. There are two key items to consider when choosing a coffee service for restaurants.

EQUIPMENT

The right equipment can be the difference between a great experience (for your customers and staff) and a complete headache. There are two different types of espresso machines used in restaurants: a two-step espresso maker, and a “superautomatic” espresso maker.

Which espresso machine you decide to choose depends on which type of equipment fits your restaurant’s interests.

For instance, if you have high turnover and do not want to have to continually retrain new staff on a two-step style espresso machine/grinder, then a superautomatic espresso maker is a great fit. This equipment can make consistent coffee and a great espresso with the touch of a button.

Although a superautomatic can be a coffee superstar for the restaurant, the two-step espresso machines should never be undervalued. The beautiful design and quality product that comes from a two-step espresso maker can certainly be a work of art.

The caveat to this is that you will most likely need a trained barista in order to maximize the machine’s performance. We carry both types of equipment to ensure our customers have multiple options.

Observations

Another observation we see with customers is that some do not feel their restaurant warrants a specialty drink program (cappuccinos, lattes, espressos, etc..). They would rather avoid buying expensive equipment and running the risk of neither using it often nor having the proper staff members to operate it.

The concern is that espresso equipment is costly and hard to use.

After our customers gave us this feedback, we answered with a solution. We have been able to source quality espresso equipment that is easy to use and provide it to restaurants at no charge, as long as they purchase the coffee through us.

Our tailored “free-equipment” program ensures that our restaurant clients can provide a variety of drinks to their customers, which in return will enhance their bottom-line revenue and customer experience.

COFFEE BRANDS

Many restaurateurs will go through the painstaking process of picking a particular coffee service for their restaurant by interviewing multiple coffee companies, doing taste tests, and touring the operation’s facilities.

Even after they have decided on which coffee they want, after a few years, they might decide they want to make a change. Sometimes a restaurant will be unhappy with their selection but feel it’s not worth the equipment disruption to make the switch.

A company of choice

What separates Berry Coffee from other espresso and coffee equipment providers is that we are a company of choice. We have the ability to provide multiple brands of coffee. You can mix and match coffee selections without ever having to weather an equipment disruption.

We have all the name brands in our coffee lineup, including SpyhouseCaribouStarbucksFollyFive WattPeaceCity GirlTiny Footprint, and Dunn Brothers.

Our own roasting facility

We also have our own roasting facility, where we can create a distinctive coffee blend that compliments a restaurant’s food offerings. Pairing a special coffee with your breakfast food can be a huge differentiator in the customer-experience category.

Another great perk is to be able to offer customers a one-of-a-kind custom blend. We invite chefs and GMs to our roasting facility and help set up these unique offerings.
