Tiny Footprint Coffee is the world’s first carbon-negative coffee. Achieving this ecological milestone is straightforward. It takes 4 lb of CO2 for Tiny Footprint to produce and distribute 1 lb of its coffee. For every pound that’s sold, the roaster donates a portion of the proceeds to fund reforestation in Ecuador’s Mindo Cloud Forest. Over time, these trees will remove 54 lb of CO2 from the atmosphere.
Folly Coffee has been featured in publications such as Roast Magazine’s Daily Coffee News, Minnesota Monthly, City Pages, and Cities 97.1 (KTCZ-FM). The roaster, a 2019 Good Food Award Winner, has been rated as “exceptional” by coffeereview.com.
Minnesota-based and WBENC-Certified, City Girl has 150 points of distribution in the Twin Cities metro area. The roaster sources coffee from women-owned or -managed farms and cooperatives. A portion of the proceeds is returned to those same organizations.
Launched in 1987, Dunn Brothers was a bellwether of the growth of small batch, premium coffee in Minnesota. The roaster is now a franchise operation, with 75 coffeeshops and 50 points of retail distribution in 8 states.
Peace was born in 1996 as a nonprofit, founded on the mission of selling 100% organic, free-trade coffee. The roaster, now a for-profit, boasts 400 points of distribution throughout the Twin Cities metro, along with five retail locations and 18 different varieties.
Well before it was a household name, the Starbucks story began in 1971. Back then, the roaster and retailer of whole bean and ground coffee, tea and spices had a single store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market.
